Vivienne Chatteron was Britain's first television actress. She appeared as Mrs Bouncer in Gordon Sherry's production of John Maddison Morton's Victorian farce Box and Cox for the Baird Television Co, transmitted from their Long Acre studio on 15 December 1928. She returned to television with the opening of the BBC high definition service from Alexandra Palace in 1936 and continued to make sporadic appearances on the small screen until 1960.
