Graduated from the Kiev State Institute of Theatrical Art. I. Karpenko-Kary (acting department). Graduated from GITIS, directing department (headed by Andrey Nikolaev).Upon graduation, he worked at the institute as an actor in the Vinnitsa and Odessa Philharmonic. In the 80s-90s - an actor in Kiev theaters: the Variety Theater, the Golden Gate Theater, the Stern Jewish Theater, the Kiev Academic Theater on the Left Bank of the Dnieper. He worked at the Kiev Bravo Theater.He worked on Ukrainian television - the host and creator of the projects "Golden Goose", "White Crow", "I have erected a monument to myself ...".The elder brother of producer Alexander Tsekalo.Since 2020 he has been living and working in Moscow.
