Veselina Gerinska was born on July 31,1938 in Sofia, Bulgaria. She graduated in "documentary film directing", in the class of Professor Zguridi in State Institute of Cinema, Moscow. She worked as a primary school teacher and director at the Vreme Studios ( Studios for popular science films),and in Boyana Film Studios. She has more than 50 popular science and documentary films, awarded at national and international festivals. In the feature film she has realized two films: "Guilt" - sharply-social drama with Tzvetana Maneva, Katya Paskaleva and Stefan Danailov and child movie "Breathe, man." Selected filmography of her documentaries and scientific films: "Handmade Carpet" (1963), Special Prize of International Film Festival in Brussels, 1963; "Where To?" (1966), Diploma at National Film Festival, Varna, 1967; "Aleko Konstantinov" (1968), First prize and the Critics Award at the National Film Festival, Varna, 1968; "When I think of the future" (1969), Prize for popular science film at the National Film Festival, Varna, 1969; Best director at the National Film Festival, Velingrad, 1970; "Towards the City" (1971), Prize for best documentary and Critics Award at the National Film Festival, , Varna, 1972; Second prize at the National Film Festival, Velingrad, 1971, Special Award for best director at the International Film Festival, Oberhausen, 1972; "Tale of sad Land" (1972), A special diploma at the International Film Festival, Oberhausen, 1973; "Blood Song" (1973).
