Tereza Nvotová was born on Jan 22, 1988 in Czechoslovakia [now Slovakia]. Tereza Nvotová's big-screen debut came with Walking Too Fast directed by Radim Spacek in 2009.
Tereza Nvotová's (1988, Czechoslovakia) sophomore feature, Nightsiren (Svetlonoc, 2022), premiered in Locarno IFF - Cineasti del presente, where it won the Pardo D'Oro (Golden Leopard) for the Best Film. Following, in Sitges IFF the film won the Silver Melies for the Best European Production and two special mentions: Best Director and Best Actress. The film has been released in Czech Republic and Slovakian theaters. Her debut feature, Filthy (Spina, 2017), premiered at IFF Rotterdam and has won many awards at festivals worldwide. HBO Europe co-produced her feature debut and two documentaries. Her latest HBO documentary The Lust For Power (Meciar, 2017) was critically acclaimed and has caused heated debate about populism and corruption in politics. Tereza graduated in direction from film academy FAMU in Prague. She lives between Prague and New York.
