Joined Tokyo Movie Film Company in the 60s and soon began to direct episodes of animation TV series "Ghost Q-taro" (1965-67). With the TV series "Pa-Man" (1967), Nagahama began scriptwriting in addition to directing. In 1969 he was promoted to supervising director of the TV series "Star of Giants" and also debuted in movies with the four films of theatrical adaptation of that series (1969-70). From the mid-70s he became freelance and specialized in the genre of robots during five years. At the end of the decade he joined Tokyo Movie Shinsha again, collaborating in several projects, but passed away in 1980 during the planning of a theatrical remake of "Star of Giants" (finally premiered in 1982).
