After realizing that she was a square peg in a round hole when it came to corporate America, Stephanie finally faced the inevitable; she was a creative soul and needed to express it in a major way. She began taking acting workshops back in the early 1970's at National Black Theatre and later Double Image Theatre. In 1978 she auditioned for and was accepted into NYU School of The Arts and studied acting in their rigorous Theatre Program. She views that as the most rewarding experience in her life on many levels. She considers herself to be a dramatic actress, loving to reach emotional depths. However, she is quite the ham.Born and raised in the South Bronx, Stephanie's early exposure to diverse cultures had a major impact on how she uses her talents. Her plays/screenplays and other projects have reflected cultural activism in her quest to fight ignorance, to foster the appreciation for diversity, and address many social issues. Look for the re-launch of the off shoot of her anti-racism documentary, of cultural educational products, the company "tribalspirit", and upcoming stage, DVD, and film productions of her scripting. She produced, acted in, and directed one of her newest plays, "Blood Makes The Red River Flow", a Creole historical drama and AEA Showcase Production February 2012 for Black History Month in NYC's Theatre District. As director, and producer she remounted her supernatural mystery/thriller "A Wound In Time" for a limited run Off Broadway in November 2012 in the midst of Hurricane Sandy's chaos. The screenplay version was a semi-finalist in the 2009 Back in the Box Screenplay Competition, and quarter- finalist in the 2010 Fade In Awards. It is now in production with an amazing cast and crew, filming throughout Summer of 2015. She will serve as Executive Producer and Director, and has a cameo appearance as the bitchy barmaid, "Charmaine". After work shopping her recently completed trilogy titled, "Women You Thought You Knew", she will produce all three plays of the trilogy in a single 2 week run in Fall of 2015.She began writing another play set in ancient times titled, "Ancients Rising", which she hopes to resume writing at some point in Italy among the ancient ruins for inspiration. She recently traveled to Italy and in search of her Bohemia and has indeed found that special place! Viva Italia!
