Shabazz Ray is an actor, director and producer known for "If Beale Street Could Talk", "Orange Is The New Black" and "Person Of Interest". He was born in Harlem, New York. He moved to South Carolina with his parents at a young age. He lived between Bronx, New York and South Carolina until he was 17. This is when he went to New York for a summer vacation with no plans of returning to South Carolina. He decided over the course of his last year of high school (after winning a talent show) that he was going to become a professional singer, although he almost went in to the army. He just wanted to have a career. He wanted to be somebody.In the midst of things Ray got the acting bug while performing in musicals in New York. In 1999 he resigned from his job to pursue acting full time. That next year he started booking parts in films.He's starred in Zoolander (2001), Changing Lanes (2002), Bad Company (2002), A Secret Promise (2009), Fringe (2009), Breaking Point (2009), Golden Boy (2012), Orange Is The New Black (2014), Person Of Interest (2015), Landline (2017) and If Beale Street (2018) Could Talk to name a few.Shabazz (2019) is in post production of "The Long Short" a feature film written, directed, and produced by him. He also stars in the film along side some awesome actors.
