Shin Sang-ok was born on Oct 11, 1926 in Korea. Shin Sang-ok's big-screen debut came with Jiokhwa directed by Shin Sang-ok in 1958. Shin Sang-ok sought asylum in the United States in 1986 shortly before the film "Pulgasary" was finished. The couple were granted refuge in the United States.
