Robert Emmet Morris (stage/screen name Parnell) was born in Chicago to Gerald and Pauline Morris. His family moved west in 1938 and after attending Glendale High School and serving in the US Navy, attended Pasadena City College and Cal State Los Angeles where he met his first wife, Jane Morris, in acting class. From the early 1960's through 1970's, he performed in many plays in Los Angeles, including the West Coast premiere of Edward Albee's "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?" Moving to the San Francisco Bay Area in the early 1980's he was well known for his stage work, as he won critics' and audience awards from Dramalogue and other publications. Some of his favorite stage roles were in "Golf With Alan Shepard", "Moonlight in da Escanaba", "Noises Off" and "The Crucible" from a list of over one hundred roles. He appeared in film, TV and commercials and played saxophone in the Corte Madera Town Band. In 2009, he married his longtime partner Carole Haan. He passed away on November 10, 2015 of natural causes.
