She had two children, Rock Halsey and Tracy Leigh Simpson, with actor Brett Halsey. They eventually divorced and Renate married a prominent Long Beach attorney, Raymond C. Simpson, who specialized in Native American civil rights. The couple had one child, Richard James Simpson. Renate currently resides in Southern California.
