Renata grew up in Garden Grove CA to a family of independent women. In 2000 with an eye towards directing, she committed herself to a four year acting program at the renowned Playhouse West School & Repertory Theatre in Los Angeles under the tutelage of veteran actor Jeff Goldblum, believing that in order to get a great performance a director should understand the actors journey and speak their language.In 2012 she received her first Best Director nomination for the short film "Abigail" at Action On Film International Film Festival.
