Born in Manhattan, NYC, Raven always wanted to be a performer. She attended the LaGuardia High School for the Arts as a voice major, then left sophomore year to pursue her studies in Paris, France at the American School of Paris. Raven attended numerous colleges including NYU, The New School and Hunter but finally earned a BA from Sarah Lawrence College. She did many off-off-Broadway non-paying theatre performances and also wrote and produced a number of autobiographical solo shows. She finally started landing paying acting roles although they were few and far between. When not working as an actress, Raven writes arts and entertainment articles for numerous publications including The Village Voice, Back Stage, In New York Magazine, Fangoria Magazine, Starlog Magazine and tons of Web sites. "Beat the Geeks" host J. Keith van Straaten is one of her close friends and a former collaborator in college.
