Pedro Ultreras was born in Durango, México in 1969. At the age of 20 years old, Ultreras left his country in search of better opportunities in the United States; throughout his career in the Media he has worked professionally in California, Texas, Arizona, Florida, Illinois and currently in New York City. He has been three times nominated to an Emmy because his work as a News Reporter.He began his career in the Media in 1990 as a Reporter and Cameraman for an Univision's television affiliate (KSMS Channel 67). Throughout his career Ultreras has worked for Telemundo, ABC, CBS, CNN and Univision.As a journalist, Pedro was assigned to cover several national and international news events from the Middle East, Europe, and Mexico to Latin America. The death of Pope John Paul II and the election of the new Pope Benedict XVI was his last international news assignment as a Television reporter.His interest to extend his work as a social communicator took him to New York City to study filmmaking and professional photography at New York Film Academy. His first feature length film was 7 Soles (7 Suns), a movie that was an official selection in ten international film festivals. 7 Soles was released in 2008. He also published the book of the movie under the same title.In 2010, Pedro wrote and directed the documentary film La Bestia (The Beast) that shows the suffering experienced by immigrants from Central America when trying to cross Mexico to reach the United States illegally. La Bestia has been acclaimed internationally for exposing social issues and humanitarian crises of thousands of immigrants.His most recent work as a filmmaker is the documentary film ABC Nunca Mas (ABC Never Again). ABC Nunca Mas is about a fire incident, plagued by corruption and negligence, at a nursery in Mexico where 49 children died. The film had its world premiere at the International Film Festival Manhattan in November 2012, which was recognized by the international organization The Mount Hope Project for spreading social justice.Pedro currently works as a National correspondent for Noticiero Univision and the program Aqui y Ahora, he also works periodically as a correspondent for CNN en Español.Biography date: September/18/2014
