Nils Poppe
Nils Poppe was born on May 31, 1908 in Sweden. Nils Poppe's big-screen debut came with Adolf Armstarke directed by Sigurd Wallén in 1937, strarring Skogens Konung (uncredited). Nils Poppe is known for The Devil's Eye directed by Ingmar Bergman, Jarl Kulle stars as Don Juan and Bibi Andersson as Britt-Marie. The upcoming new movie Nils Poppe plays is Sten Stensson kommer tillbaka which will be released on Oct 07, 1963.
While studying, he became interested in acting and was discovered when performing in a school play.His talent for comedic acting made him known for the public when he debuted with Pengar - en tragikomisk saga (1947), which he directed himself. He is today best remembered for his character Fabian Bom, always a perfectionist until he falls in love. Similar is also his character Sten Stensson, an academic upholding a high moral standard. In Ingmar Bergman's Le septième sceau (1957), he also played drama, in the role as Jof the jester. After retiring from the movies, he returned to the stage playing light comedy until the age of 85.
