Nathan Spencer

Nathan was born in the UK and began working in the Broadcast Television Industry immediately after leaving school in 1992. Starting with a small facilities company outside London (that pioneered the use of miniature cameras in Formula One Racing coverage) he progressed to Project Manager and developed the use of emerging camera technologies for virtually every sport shown on Television. By the late 90's, Nathan had formed his own business, still providing Live Production Technology to British Producers like the BBC, Channel 4 and ITV for their news, sports and entertainment shows but also gradually expanding to work with Broadcasters in more than 40 countries around the World.In the spring of 2003, Nathan was asked by Warner Bros. to design and build a multi-camera, digital video transmission system to be used for Director Assist during the filming of some scenes in 'Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban'. The system was a great success but ongoing TV commitments (such as 'V Graham Norton' and the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens) kept his focus on TV instead of movies.By 2007 however, Nathan was spending a great deal of time in California between shows in London and Asia, and it was there in Los Angeles that he met and married his wife. After a short time working in the Camera Department shooting commercials, he joined IATSE Local 600 (International Cinematographers Guild) as a First Assistant Cameraman, and started working on some of Hollywood's biggest movies.Nathan became a US Citizen in 2013 and as of 2021, he lives with his wife and children near Chicago and works mainly in Live Broadcast Television.
