Arthur Boyadjian was born in Nimes, France in March 1929. He was born of Armenian immigrants who fled to France a decade earlier during the Armenian genocide. His parents had intended to immigrate to the United States but never quite made it. When Arthur was old enough he went to Canada and lived there from 1955 to 1962 where he worked as a professional wrestler under the name of "Guy LaRoche." In 1962 he moved to Southern California where he again started working as a professional wrestler, this time under the name of "Mustapha Pasha, the Terrible Turk." One day, when he was in the wrestling promoter's office, a call came from an movie agent who was looking for a strong Frenchman to play a chauffeur in a movie. The promoter said, "He's right here in my office," and that was the beginning of Arthur's acting career. That role was for a movie titled, "Bedtime Story," which starred Marlon Brando, David Niven, and Shirley Jones. In one scene set in the French Riviera, Arthur was required to pick up and carry Marlon Brando in his arms. Hence the need for a "strong" Frenchman.
