Milton Subotsky

Milton Subotsky

producer, writer, music department

Milton Subotsky was born on Sep 27, 1921 in USA. Milton Subotsky's big-screen debut came with Rock Rock Rock! directed by Will Price in 1956.

Milton Subotsky, a major British filmmaker, joined with Max Rosenberg in 1962 to form Amicus Productions to produce low- to medium-budget horror and anthology films (they also formed Cinerama Releasing in 1966), usually shot in England and Scotland. These included La maison qui tue (1971), Lâchez les monstres (1970), And Now the Screaming Starts! (1973), the Roy Ward Baker horror films Histoires d'outre-tombe (1972) and Le caveau de la terreur (1973) and Oliver Stone's first feature film, La reine du mal (1974). Both Subotsky and Rosenberg got help from Samuel Z. Arkoff and James H. Nicholson in releasing the British films worldwide. After Cinerama Releasing folded and went out of business due to the lack of British investment in 1975, Rosenberg and Subotsky went their separate ways. Rosenberg rarely continued with filmmaking, but Subotsky kept his hand in American horror films, helping to bring a number of Stephen King's novels to the screen up. He died in 1991 of heart disease.
