Mikhail Rasumny

Mikhail Rasumny was born on May 13, 1890 in Russian Empire [now Ukraine]. Mikhail Rasumny's big-screen debut came with Comrade X directed by King Vidor in 1940, strarring Russian Officer. Mikhail Rasumny is known for This Gun for Hire directed by Frank Tuttle, Veronica Lake stars as Ellen Graham and Robert Preston as Michael Crane. The son of a cantor, Rasumny made his stage debut at 14 and toured Europe and South America with the Moscow Art Theatre. Rasumny settled in the U.S. in 1935 and took jobs as a bill collector and dishwasher between acting jobs. His first film appearance was in 1940's Camarade X (1940). He spent the remainder of his career playing several ethnic roles.
