Mika Ronkainen is an award-winning film director and screenwriter from northern Finland. Ronkainen's latest work, psychological crime drama series Kaikki synnit (2019) which he directed and co-created with Venla Aakko, has been highly successful both in his native country and around the world. Kaikki synnit (2019) season 1, with more than 3 million views on public broadcaster YLE Areena's streaming service, has been sold to over 30 countries. Season 2 was released simultaneously in Finnish cinemas and Elisa Viihde's streaming service in October 2020. The series is produced by Ilkka Matila for MRP Matila Röhr Productions and distributed internationally by NBCUniversal.Ronkainen started directing documentary films at the age of 26. His latest documentary, Laulu koti-ikävästä (2012), was awarded with two Finnish Oscars (Jussi Awards) for Best Documentary Film and Best Music in a Film.
