Mihail Mutafov is a Bulgarian theater and cinema actor, twice winner of Theater Award "Asker". He was born in Harmanli, Bulgaria. He is famous for his large figure, typical male fascinating radiation, even in old age. In the last ten years, he often is working with director Yavor Gardev ( "Bastard," "MaratSad," "The Pillowman," "Krum", "Piece Baby," "Caligula"). In 1972, he graduated from National Academy for Theatre and Film Art, Sofia, Bulgaria in the class of Professor Zhelcho Mandadzhiev. Since 1972 to 1975 he has played in Dimitrovgrad Drama Theater "Apostle Karamitev" (the roles in plays such as "Treachery and Love" by Friedrich Schiller, "Careerists" by Ivan Vazov, "A Streetcar Named Desire" by Tennessee Williams). Since 1975, he is in the troupe of Varna Drama Theater "Stoyan Bachvarov." He has played many roles in plays like "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" by Dale Wasserman, "The process against the Bogomils" by Stefan Tsanev, "Inspector" by Nikolai Gogol. Also Mutafov toured in theaters in Haskovo and Sofia (Theatre 199).He has participated with roles in over 20 films, including: "Glass Bead" director Ivan Cherkelov (1999); "At the end of the world," director Ivan Nichev (1998); "Well," director Docho Bodzhakov (1991); "Do not look back," directed by Lyudmil Kirkov (1971); "Cyclops", directed by Christo Christov. He also has worked with the young directors, such as Nikolay Todorov ( "The Minutes After"). Michail Mutafov is a two-time winner of Theater Award "Asker: in 2002, for Best Supporting Actor ( "Hotel between this and the other world" by Eric-Emmanuel Schmitt, directed by Nikolay Lambrev) and in 2003, for Best Actor ( "Marat / Sade" by Peter Weiss, directed by Yavor Gardev).
