Michael H. Goodwyn was born in Hampton, Virginia, and raised in Kalamazoo, Michigan. He began his acting career at the age of five, and by the time he graduated from high school, he already had over 8 years of dramatic training and had appeared in several industrial films. Michael received his B.S. degree in Communication and Theatre Arts from Eastern Michigan University.Michael began his career by teaching Speech and Theatre at several high schools in Michigan, Maryland, Texas, and Florida. He was a nationally recognized director. Michael and his wife founded the North Broward Young Adult Theatre (NBYT), a non-profit theatre company featuring works by, for, and about teens and young adults. Several of Michael's high school and NBYT students went on to successful careers as actors on Broadway and in films, as well as work as animators and stuntmen. His best student, Billoah Greene, is now a successful actor who will star in his latest film, Preaching to the Choir, set to open in April, 2006.As a theatre director and teacher, Michael believed it was important to keep his acting chops and appeared in productions throughout South Florida. It was then that the acting bug truly struck him and he decided to concentrate on acting as a career. He returned to Eastern Michigan University and received his master's degree in Theatre, continued his stage work, and moved to Los Angeles in 2003.Michael has three important film roles which will be seen in 2006, including leads in the feature comedy Lost in Transit, and in the film short The Battlers, based on an Ernest Hemingway short story. Additionally he appears in the suspense/horror film Triloquist. Other films include The Longest Yard starring Adam Sandler. Michael also continues his stage work, most recently appearing in Hollywood in the lead role in Don B. Welch's comedy, Idella's Soul Shack. Michael's original play, Dimensions of a Blackman, was produced in Hollywood for a month long run in 2003.
