His passion for filmmaking revealed at age 11, Matthew "MK" Kilburn is now an award-winning filmmaker and media consultant. His creativity and experience have earned him the title of "Media Samurai"- derived from the ancient Japanese "one who serves". His projects include content for Netflix, ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX, WB, and PBS, including documentaries on both Crystal Meth and School Bullying. MK is known for his work as a technical director and a pioneering technologist in transmedia integration, as well as a post-production supervisor and film/sound editor. His productions have taken him all across America and to more than a dozen countries throughout Europe, Asia, and Central America.The pandemic be dammed, in mid-2020, this bold storyteller formed Rogue Marble (https://roguemarble.org) - a nonprofit movie company - to tell authentic and transformative stories from around the world. Rogue Marble's initial production slate includes films in Haiti and Cambodia, as well as projects in the US. Rogue Marble also launched its new commercial production division - Kaphene Studios (https://kaphene.com), filling a similar storytelling niche in business. So...what's your story?MK was born and raised in Reno, Nevada, and received his undergraduate degree from Biola University. He pursued his Masters in Advanced Digital Storytelling in 2013. He has lived in SoCal, Japan, and Oklahoma. MK has been married since 2008 to Shiranyl (Philippines), whom he met while on location in SE Asia. They have a blended family of three children.
