Atlanta, Georgia born, Maia aka Sonjia Hubert Harper, is the quintessential mom (and grandmother), having portrayed "the mother" in national commercials, documentaries, feature length and short films. She has also starred in several stage productions including Lady Day At Emerson's Bar and Grill which earned her a prestigious BTAA (Chicago) nomination, as Anna Gordie Gaye in Michael Ajakwe Jr.'s You're All I Need....Marvin Gaye's Story and as Sophia in the San Bernardino stage production of The Color Purple.Maia The Artíste is a Multi-dimensional Expressionist, renowned vocalist, multi-instrumentalist and composer who is proficient on several musical instruments that include flute, harp, vibraphone and other mallet percussion. Maia is also a prolific music educator. One of her passions is her specialized music training for adults with developmental disabilities (Autism, Down Syndrome, etc). She is a faculty member and music mentor at Claire Trevor School of the Arts, University Of California, Irvine as Professor of Music.
