Magenta Baribeau was born in Hull, Quebec, on the other side of the river from Canada's capital, Ottawa.She was always an artistic child, making up plays and learning her favourite movies by heart. She started writing plays with her brother at the age of 10. She always wanted to become a model, but was turned down due to her height (5' 4").At the age of 17, she moved to Montreal, Quebec (Canada) and started studying acting at various schools in both French and English. She also has a major in Film Production from Concordia University and does plan to direct her own indie/horror movie. She is fluent in French and English and also speaks Italian, Spanish and Japanese.She is also known (semi-seriously) as "The Queen of Montreal Goths" for organizing many events pertaining to Montreal's underground milieu and several articles were written about her in the Montreal press.Her favourite movie genre is horror and incredibly enough her first two leads in two Montreal features were in horror films.She quotes Darren Aronofsky, Woody Allen, Todd Solondz, George Romero, Tim Burton and Dario Argento as her directing inspirations.She is currently working on several movies both as an actress and director as well as writing her first novel.
