Maddisen was born in Connecticut to NYC-born parents Ann & Edward Wicks. Her mother Ann attended The Julliard School of Music where she trained as an Opera singer, performing for many years as a Soprano soloist in New York City and Connecticut. Father Edward, a Cellist, Inventor of the Wicks LifeLine, and Luthier, is best known for the work he performed on the famed Gibson Stradivarius, now owned by Joshua Bell.
