Madam Auring was a professional fortune teller from the Philippines, and part-time actress.She was born in 1940 under the name Aurea Elfero, daughter of Jaime Elfero and Luciana Damian. Her family was poor and could not afford to provide for her education. She only had an elementary school education. In 1963, Elfero married architect Patrick Joseph Banez. They had four children.Elfero started working as a fortune teller in the 1970s. She grew to fame through two predictions. One was that Spanish model Amparo Muñoz (1954-2011) would win the Miss Universe 1974 competition in Manila. The second was that American boxer Muhammad Ali (1942-2016) would defeat his opponent Joe Frazier (1944-2011) in the "Thrilla in Manila" boxing contest (1975). Both predictions were correct.Auring had a number of celebrity clients, such as First Lady Imelda Marcos (1929-). actor Robert Duvall (1931-, )President Joseph Estrada (1937-), actor Fernando Poe Jr. (1939-2004), actor Franco Nero (1941-), actress Nora Aunor (1953-), and boxer Rolando Navarrete (1957-). She reportedly had an affair with boxer Larry Holmes (1949-).Auring died in 2020, at the age of 80. Her death was announced by her grandson Daryl Simon Pecson.
