Born in Rio de Janeiro in 1958, been on stage since the age of six. Her mother was a photo model and her father a conductor, composer, pianist, singer, arranger, music producer and founding member of The Cariocas, the group that launched Bossa Nova. Schooled in theater at Tablado, she geared her career towards television, which in Brazil enjoys far more popularity than cinema as an entertainment medium. Started working at Globo TV, Brazil's largest network, in 1980 e started her own production company, Canela Prod Art, in 1982, when she began her own independent productions for theater, television, and cinema. Verissimo's academic background is that of a journalist, but she also holds degrees in Avid Editing, Final Cut, Premiere, Direction of Photography and digital cinema. As a director, she received awards from the New York Festivals for a series made in Cinam for TV, Terra Brasil. Director, producer and screenwriter film ME, MY FATHER and THE CARIOCAS - 70 Years of Music in Brazil (opening screening of It' s All True International Documentary Film Fest, in 2017).
