Lefteris Voyatzis was born on Oct 12, 1944 in Greece. Lefteris Voyatzis's big-screen debut came with Wandering directed by Hristoforos Hristofis in 1979, strarring .
First stage appearance in 1972, as an actor. For ten years he collaborated with other theatre companies and played leading roles from the classical repertoire.In 1982 he created the actors company "I Skini", (The Stage), and in 1987 its successor, "I nea SKINI" (THE new STAGE), at the Theatre Odou Kykladon (Kyklades St Theatre). He has received three Best Director Awards "Karolos Koun" (1987, 1997) and "Fotos Politis" (1997). Between 1989 and 1991 he founded and directed the Classical Drama Workshop. He first staged Sophocles' "Antigone" in the 1992 with the group of actors working at the workshop (Theatre Odou Kykladon). Years after that, and in a totally new approach, he reproduced "Antigone" at the ancient theatre of Epidaurus (Athens Festival, 2006 and 2007). With momentous productions of classical masterpieces, (Heinrich von Kleist, Carlo Goldoni, Aleksandr Griboyedov, Anton Chekhov, Molière, Harold Pinter, Fyodor Dostoevsky, etc), new contemporary Greek plays (such as the masterpieces "I Kiss You On the Face", "The Night of the Owl" and "Bella Venezia" by George Dialegmenos) and introducing modern "classics" (such as Thomas Bernhard and Sarah Kane), Lefteris Voyatzis has come to occupy a leading position in the world of the Greek theatre. His work also includes cinema acting, mainly in films directed by Nikos Panayotopoulos.
