Actor and director Lasha Dardagany was born on November 4, 1980 in Tbilisi, Georgia. His father Gia Dardagany (born on May 27, 1961 - died of cancer on July 19, 2004) was a jeweler. Mother Irina Malania (born on January 7, 1962) is a musician. He went to the 147 High School of Tbilisi in 1987. He attended the State University of Tbilisi where he studied drama and directing at the Department of Arts and Humanities (1998-2002) studying under acting coach Kote Mirianashvili, filmmakers Merab Kokochashvili, Rezo Esadze, Sandro Vakhtangov, Levan Kitia, Rezo Kveselava, Tea Bekauri, Yuri Mechitoff, Ilo Vachnadze and Geno Chiradze. Making appearances in various student productions he finally hit it big with Kôbô Abe's Hako Otoko (AKA The Suitcase/The Box Man). He was an apprentice director of the Award winner movie Nutsas skola (2000) directed by Merab Kokochashvili.
