He is also the grandnephew of Navodaya Appachan who owned Navodaya Studios. He was introduced into the Malayalam film industry by director Fazil with his debut film Aniathipravu (1997), co-starring Shalini. The movie turned to be the highest-grossing Malayalam film of that period.
