Kelly grew up in Philadelphia and attended Catholic school prior to being thrown out in her sophomore year (she finished her last two years in public school). Divine then went to beauty school, got her cosmetology license, and worked for six months in a salon. Unhappy with this line of employment, Kelly decided to become a model instead.
