Judy Benson was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma in 1951 and raised in rural Yell County, Arkansas. She attended college at Arkansas Tech, Berkley, California State Hayward, San Francisco State, and Oklahoma State obtaining a BA in Psychology and an MS in Corrections. She was active in scholastic and community theatre while practicing as a mental health counselor and various law enforcement and corrections professions. Her debut came when visiting a production unit in Little Rock, Arkansas and noticing they were storing their live and "dummy" ammunition dangerously close to each other. In the process of pointing out and correcting this situation, she landed a job providing onsite security, doing firearms and pyrotechnic consultation, and was cast in a speaking role in Mary Steenburgen's _End of the Line (1988)_. Since that time, she has appeared as a State Trooper in _Stone Cold (1991/I)_ where she was also a stunt driver, was a driver in Billy Bob Thornton's _Daddy and Them (1998)_, and appeared in the independent production of A Killing in the Market.
