Juan Diego Escobar Alzate is a Colombian Writer and Director. He was born on August 15, 1987 in Manizales, Colombia. He has a BA in Audiovisual Communication. In 2015 he moved to San Francisco, California pursuing an MFA in Directing Motion Pictures and Television at Academy of Arts University of San Francisco from which he graduated with Cum Laude honors. He has written and directed several short films, ads and music videos in Colombia and in the United States. In 2019 he completed his debut feature film "Luz: The Flower of Evil", which premiered at Sitges in the Official Fantastic Competition, and got selected at Glasgow Film Festival, Nocturna Madrid, Almería Western Film Festival, Fantaspoa, Fant Bilbao, CineQuest, Horrible imaginings and won Mórbido and Buenos Aires Rojo Sangre for best film, among others. It was also nominated for best Latin fantastic feature film of the year 2019 by the Meliés Federation. Currently his feature films "Searching for the Black Rainbow" and "Deliver Us From Hell" are in development.
