Jeff Zimmer was born in Oak Park, Illinois, USA. He graduated from Conant High School in Hoffman Estates and later Cal State University Long Beach where he was named Outstanding Graduate of the Department. He wrote a weekly newspaper column called "Hellzapoppin'" and won a award for Best Column of Opinion. He interned with the late night comedy show Fridays and later became a staff writer for the acclaimed cable show Not Necessarily the News (1982). He wrote, directed and performed on Talk Soup (1991), and wrote for the New Mickey Mouse Club and America's Funniest Home Videos. He most recently has served as post producer for Elimidate and The Doctors (2008).
