Jacare Calhoun is a multi talented artist. His love of performing and creating started at a young age. He grew up not having much, so what his family would do to entertain them was the adults would gather the kids around and have them perform, either a song or a scene from a movie. Little did Jacare know this was training for him for what he would do in the future. When his family did rent movies they would watch them over and over, sometimes acting out scenes. He auditioned for his first play in sixth grade, he was not planning to do so, but the itch to perform had grown. He nailed it. This was done in front of his classmates (who numbered over 100) and they erupted in applause. Jacare was hooked. He did not do another play or performance until high school, where the bug bit him really hard. He started taking drama his junior year. His drama teacher seeing the talent he had, asked him to be in the schools play without having him audition. He did the play and won an award for his performance. From here Jacare never looked back. Also in High School he decided to dabble in his second love next to acting, Directing. After High school, he wanted to pursue a career in the entertainment business, but he wanted to be good at it, he respected the art so much he did not want to do anything that was not the best art he could bring out. So what followed was a decade of studying, and learning as much as he can about the art. He studied at The Groundings where famous improvisers like Will Ferrell and Phil Hartman honed their craft. He also attended Cal Arts for a brief period a, and numerous other acting schools as well as taking film classes. Also in this time he performed on stage in various stage productions, and received some great reviews in the play "This is how it Goes" written by Neil La Bute where he played the character "Cody", Jacare lists this as one of his favorite performances due to the challenge (the play only had three characters). When he finally felt he was ready, he pursued his career full time.Jacare loves all aspects of performing, he not only is an actor, director, and producer and writer, and he also is a stand up comedian and improviser, on top of being President/founder of his own Production Company.
