Renegade filmmaker J.A. Worthington is a writer/producer/director/editor and is known for Megalomania (2012), The LeVer (2014) and Sketchboogey (2017).He was born in Oakville, Ontario at the Oakville-Trafalgar Memorial Hospital. In the beginning, curiosity got the best of him and he began experimenting with home videos as early as elementary school using his parent's Sony video8 camcorder. His first introduction to editing was re-creating the opening title sequence to the first Halloween movie, slide by slide using Microsoft Powerpoint. As a teen, he was obsessed with the films of Steven Spielberg, George Lucas, John Carpenter, Tim Burton and David Cronenberg. In particular he loved Hook ou la revanche du Capitaine Crochet (1991), La Nuit des masques (1978), Edward aux mains d'argent (1990) and the original La guerre des étoiles (1977) Trilogy (Special Edition). These films got him interested in the magic of the movies.After seeing Orange mécanique (1971) and 2001 : L'Odyssée de l'espace (1968) for the first time back-to-back in the summer of Grade 9, he was immediately transfixed and inspired by the art of cinema. From then on his favourite director was Stanley Kubrick and the fascination phase lasted a very long time. Raised in the suburbs of Waterdown, Ontario he attended Waterdown District High School. During his rebellious years at WDHS, he single handedly shot and edited 9 short film projects on miniDV, including a short biography about Andy Warhol. One of his more realized films titled Project Genesis (2004) went on to be screened at a Toronto-based Film Festival in 2004, winning a Certificate of Merit for Best Storytelling and Best Editing.J.A. Worthington attended the Toronto Film School (A division of the International Academy of Design & Technology), taking studies in Digital Film & TV Production. He graduated in 2006. In those days the school was located in the same building as the CBC. Currently he resides in the Greater Toronto Area (City of Burlington). He spends his time creating original content and finishing post-production stages on numerous indie projects.
