Iva Kranjc was born on 10 November 1978 in Ljubljana, Slovenia and raised in Ptuj, Slovenia. After primary school, she studied at Gimnazija Ptuj (Ptuj gymnasium). There she become a member of a theatre group called Teater III. After high school she became a student of AGRFT. Her first professional play was Curek krvi by A. Artaud, in the third class she received student Sever Award for performance in Cid. After many roles in Theater and TV series, she get the role of Simona in Varuh meje (2002). That role brought her a Vesna for best female performance.
