He graduated from Institute of Theatrical Arts and Cinematography in 1978 and Faculty of Mathematics at the University of Timisoara in 1971.In 1978, he directed first movie Cânta cucul si pe ploaie.Other directed films :Tapinarii (1982),Raport despre starea natiunii (2002),Întoarcerea magilor (2016).Has two sons Zoran and Deian.President of Union of Romanian Film Authors and Directors.
