Ilian Simeonov was born on January 6, 1963 in Yambol, Bulgaria. In 1992, he graduated from the National Academy for Theatre and Film Art, Sofia, Bulgaria with a degree in "film directing". Among the films which Ilian Simeonov directed are "Prayer for Lake Baikal", "Border"( together with Christian Nochev), "I have an idea," "Sombrero Blues," "Rage" and "Warden of the Dead." He won the Union of Bulgarian Filmmakers' Award for the best film for the movie "Warden of the Dead," and also the Prize for debut "Golden Rose" in 1994 for his film "Border". He died on March 13, 2008 in Sofia, Bulgaria.
