Filmmaker Gert Embrechts works as a writer/director for 13 years on both features and television shows. After a few years of working in the building trade as an electrician, he decided to do something completely different and started at the Brussels film school in 1987. He combined education with working on sets as an electrician. After finishing film school in 1993, he started working as a first assistant director.His short films '13' and 'Vincent' won several awards in Europe and the USA and where shown on Canal plus and Sundance Channel. Gert Embrechts wrote the screenplay for the box office hit "Stricken" (the Netherlands) who is distributed around the world. His first feature as a writer/ director 'Allez, Eddy!' was released successfully in Belgium (2012). The film won several international awards and is sold to HBO. Since 2012 Gert devotes his experience and talent also as a Creative Producer for the production company Cine Cri de Coeur (Belgium) to projects of other writer/directors.
