Born in 1949 in the Belleville neighborhood of Paris to a working class family (his father was a locksmith) Gerard Mordillat has been a long time cultural contributor and political activist of the Left.He worked briefly with the great Italian director Roberto Rossellini in conjunction with the French Cinematheque and went on to write poetry, journalism, and fiction, and to appear on TV..His main interests have included a critique of Jesus and the Christian religion, and of fellow writer Antonin Artaud.A long time supporter of the French Communist Party, Mordillat has been active with the causes of the Palestinians and the Yellow Vest protestors.
