Fumiko Hayashi

Fumiko Hayashi was born on Dec 31, 1903 in Japan. Fumiko Hayashi's big-screen debut came with Meshi directed by Mikio Naruse in 1951. Fumiko Hayashi is known for Bangiku directed by Mikio Naruse, Haruko Sugimura stars as Kin and Sadako Sawamura as Nobu. The upcoming new movie Fumiko Hayashi plays is Bangiku which will be released on Nov 27, 1985.

Born 1904, daughter of a poor peddler. Went to school and did all sorts of trades to earn a living. Having lived in a continuous state of poverty, she attempted suicide on various occasions. Her first book was the autobiography _Horoki_ but it wasn't until the end of the war that she became widely known as a writer. By the time of her death, she had become the most popular writer in Japan.
