On July 4, 2001, Human Rights Multimedia becomes Eger Films to create narrative dramas and comedies for TV and cinema. In the summer of 2002, Fred joins the 2002 UCLA Summer Professional Program in Producing. There, Fred completes his original training in broadcast journalism with narrative dramas screen writing, directing, producing and distribution. The Professional Program in Producing provides an intensive overview of the contemporary film and television industries, and introduces students to the tools needed to navigate the studio and independent marketplace. This graduate-level non-degree program is modeled after the MFA Producers Program at UCLA and has academic oversight by the UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television. Seminar-style lectures and Q/A sessions are presented by both regular UCLA faculty and distinguished industry professionals and their guests. Upon successfully finishing the program, students receive a certificate of completion. The Professional Program in Producing consists of a series of lectures discussions, and appearances by entertainment industry guests. Areas of discussion range from pitching to story development to budgeting/scheduling to marketing/distribution, and more. For those professionals who do not have the time to spend two years or more in a degree program, the UCLA Professional Program in Producing is an adequate tool to get a respected UCLA education and to acquire a vast amount of information about the entertainment business in a short period of time.Because enrollment is selective and limited based on professional track records, students in the Professional Program are able to get to know each other quickly, and there is ample opportunity to network with like-minded individuals with varied professional backgrounds. Many students in this program have formed partnerships and developed media projects together. In the fall of 2002 after returning from Los Angeles to Paris, Fred works as an independent producer, screenwriter, director and reporter.
