Frandu Almeida
Frandu Almeida was born on Aug 05, 1981 in Brazil. Frandu Almeida's big-screen debut came with Noite no Mixam directed by Frandu Almeida in 2005.
One of the youngest and newest Brazilian talents in independent filmmaking. Having worked with talents of the Latin-American and Brazilian film industry as producer Jorge Sánchez, directors Silvio Tendler and Walter Lima Jr..Since the year 2004 he co-founded the production company with director Rodrigo Rueda Terrazas and producers Estevam Allevato and Roberto Peralta entitled Groovy Filmes [br] which started off in Rio de Janeiro but has now several crews in Mexico City, Buenos Aires, São Paulo and its main location Rio de Janeiro. His first short film entitled Guatemala (2004) immediately caught the attention of several critics and film fans and was accepted into several festivals. Since then he has directed, produced and written several short films, half-length films. His latest short-film which he directed and co-wrote with Rodrigo Rueda Terrazas Noite no Mixam (2005) has been selected for several film festivals and was produced under the guidance of filmmaker Silvio Tendler as his graduation thesis. Since the year 2005 and at the moment he is co-producing and working with Rodrigo Rueda Terrazas once again as cinematographer for the first long-feature film of the company entitled "Poliamore" (working title) soon to be released in 2006.In the year 2005 he graduated from Publicity from PUC-Rio only to then enter his master studies in filmmaking in the prestigious Argentinean school "Escuela Profesional de Cine de Eliseo Subiela" in Buenos Aires where he lives at the moment and has been for the past year.
