Fran Mateu

Fran Mateu was born on May 18, 1981 in Spain. Fran Mateu's big-screen debut came with Operasiones espesiales directed by Paco Soto in 2014.

Fran Mateu (PhD) studies the connections between cinema, literature, videogames, transmedia narrative and visual culture. In 2011 was released Historia muerta (2011), his first independent short film as director. This work won several awards, and was screened in more than 100 film festivals. His next works as director were Himeria Morga (2015), an experimental micro short film, Hidden Devil (2017), a fantasy short film, and Hell West (2018), a weird western short film. Fran Mateu is also the founder and director of Elche International Fantastic Film Festival - FANTAELX.
