She was discovered by "Elle" magazine while in Paris, France and worked as a model throughout Europe in such places as France, Italy, Germany, and Morocco. MacLaren was chosen from among 4,300 candidates in a nationwide search sponsored by "Playboy" magazine to be the 35th Anniversary Playmate in the January, 1989 issue of the famous men's magazine. Fawna was paid $35,000 dollars for this particular pictorial. She went on to appear in several "Playboy" videos and posed for a handful of newsstand special editions. Moreover, MacLaren also acted in a few films that include "Dragonfight," the made-for-TV movie "The Cover Girl Murders," and "Lover's Leap."
