Evgeny Pavlovich Velikhov, a physicist and scientific leader in the Russian Federation, has scientific achievements in many areas of science: plasma physics, lasers, controlled thermonuclear fusion, power engineering,and magnetohydrodynamics (high-power pulsed MHD generators). He has authored over 1500 scientific publications and a number of inventions and discoveries. He is the President of the Kurchatov Institute (named after Igor Kurchatov) and the first Secretary of the Public Chamber of Russia.
