Ernesto Sábato was born on Jun 24, 1911 in Argentina. Ernesto Sábato's big-screen debut came with The Tunnel directed by Antonio Drove in 1988.

Sábato was awarded a doctorate in physics and took courses in philosophy at the University of La Plata (Argentina). He went to work in the Curie Laboratory in Paris, but in 1945, decided to devote himself exclusively to literature.
