Dylan Verrechia is an award-winning film auteur-director from St Barts. His family are immigrants of Sápmi-Sephardic Dane and Italian-Breton descent. Suffering from severe ankylosing spondylitis at age 8, he was bedridden for ten years in hospitals in Paris, France. Mentored by Jean Rouch at la Cinémathèque Française, Dylan Verrechia received his diploma in Cinema Studies, Photography, Philosophy & Theater at Nanterre Université. After his military service, he received a scholarship to go to New York University, Tisch School of the Arts, where he graduated with Honors in Film & TV. His short film "The Laughter of God" about Algerian journalist Mr. Goliath received Best Actor, Best Cinematography & Runner Up Director at the IFCT Film Festival.Dylan Verrechia's feature documentary about Muslim street children in Bangalore, India, "Kids of the Majestic" screened at the Egyptian Theater in LA and at the Tribeca Film Center, and received the Artivist Award for Best Feature in the Children's Advocacy Category at the United Nations endorsed Artivist Film Festival Raising Awareness for Humanity, Animals & the Environment, and the Directing & Writing Insight Awards of Recognition at the National Association of Film & Digital Media Artists. Dylan Verrechia also won the MarCom Awards for Best Commercial in Television & in Animation. He co-founded Troopers Films (Brooklyn International Film Festival Winner "Arakimentari" about photographer Nobuyoshi Araki), and 25th Frame (Milano International Film Festival Winner "Picture Me" about female adolescents' exploitation in the fashion industry).Over a period of twenty years, Dylan Verrechia directed the "Tijuana Trilogy", three psychological feature films: 1) "Tijuana Makes Me Happy", about the US consumerism model of life in a child's life on the Mexican border, received the Grand Jury Award for Best Narrative Feature at the Slamdance Film Festival, and Indie Max Award at the San Antonio Film Festival. 2) "Tierra Madre", about a same sex couple of sexual workers on how they go about conceiving a child together, received the Special Mention for Best Feature Film at the Morelia International Film Festival, the Jury Award for Best Narrative Feature at the Reeling Chicago Lesbian & Gay International Film Festival, the Diversity Award for Best Feature Film at the Barcelona International Gay & Lesbian Film Festival, the Outstanding Achievement in Foreign Feature Award at the Williamsburg International Film Festival, the Jury Award for Best Feature Film at the Cinesul Ibero-Americano Film Festival, the Golden Palm Award at the Mexico International Film Festival, the Honorable Mention Prize at the New Jersey International Film Festival, and the Silver Lei Award for Excellence in Filmmaking at the Honolulu International Film Festival. 3) "La Pura Vida", about the circle of abuse in a middle class family abuse, is the third movie in the trilogy, and is in post-production.
