Dimo Dimitrov Kolarov - Bate Dimo is a very famous Bulgarian cinematographer. He was born in Popovo, Bulgaria on February 16, 1924 in a relatively poor family. His school years pass in junior high and high school without being brilliant student. He studied and the same time worked as a musician in the restaurant of his native town, and during the holidays - in larger cities like Varna , Ruse and Veliko Tarnovo . He pulls his military service in the town of Gorna Oryahovitsa in music platoon . Then he moved to Sofia . In 1946, he went to the Czech Republic with the idea to pursue medicine . He also worked as a street musician to hold. He has entered the in 1947 the Film Department of the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague in the class of Professor Carol Plitska. He has worked during his study as a cinematographer in "Spravoda's film" in Prague. He has shoot documentaries . He studied up to 1950 , when he returned to Sofia and began to work as a cinematographer. Since 1954 until his retirement he has worked in "Boyana" Film Studios. Dimo Kolarov has worked with the many important Bulgarian film Directors such as Rangel Vulchanov, Metodi Andonov, Vulo Radev, Vili Tzankov, Irina Aktasheva and Hristo Piskov. Despite the fact that he has not taught in the cinema institutes, he has trained many of Bulgarian cinematographers - for example, Radoslav Spassov. Dimo Kolarov died on February 23,1997 in Sofia, Bulgaria .
